hemispheric asymmetry using BioSemi

Post by goldfoxy »

Hi there,

I intend to conduct an EEG asymmetry study using 32 channel BioSemi hardware (and analysed using BESA). I know this is likely to sound very dumb but can anyone advise as to whether I need additional references using the extra ‘EX’ electrodes, or will CMS/DRL suffice for subsequent hemispheric asymmetry analysis?

Kind regards,

Louise

Louise, you can always connect two additional flat electrode sensors to M1 and M2 should you wish to do so. Again, the BDF file collected in ActiView uses the CMS as the Reference, however as you know, in BESA the first step to do is always re-reference the channels away from CMS to either Common Average Display or then create a montage and use the recorded M1 and M2's to connect to MAST (BESA will automatically connect any M1 and M2 labels as a linked reference.
Hope this helps, Marc
