PASSIVE electrodes

Post by Judy »

Hello,
We are trying to use Biosemi (Active Two System) to record EMG but the CM is out of range(blue light flashing) once our self-made PCB electrodes are connected to the subject. We assume that the reason would be our PCB electrodes are PASSIVE one which could not adapt to the Active Two System. Am I right? If so,do we have any solution for it? Do we need to modify our equipment?

Thanks a lot.

The standard AD-box can only be used with BioSemi active electrodes. It is not possible operate the standard AD-box with passive electrodes.

For some applications with passive electrodes we can offer a custom solution, please discuss your particular application with you local BioSemi representative.

Hi there,

on a related note: we are trying to use custom made passive electrodes for EMG too and it seems to kind of work. However, it is not very reliable.
Would you say the Active Two System is definitely not suitable for passive electrodes? What are the custom solutions you were talking about in the previous post? And where to find local BioSemi representatives (i am in New Zealand)?

Thanks!

The New Zealand systems are customized for passive electrodes, and have been very successfully used in the past. Consult your supervisors at the university.
