how to remove duplicate bdf channels?

Hi, anyone know a way to remove channels that were inadverdently duplicated during recording from a bdf file? I can remove them in Matlab but don't know how to correct the hdr info so that they can be read again, either as .mat files in Matlab, or as .bdf files in eeglab or another program such as Brain Vision Analyzer.
