Problems with GSR signal running newest ActiView versions

Post by David Horton »

Hi there,

We are currently having some odd problems when connecting the "GSR Pleth" connector to our MKII AD-box. When running either of the most recent releases of Actiview (6.00 or 6.03), the GSR format automatically displays in nanoSiemens (and is presumably operating at 16Hz), but the signal is just a flat line, despite the scale factor.

However, after downloading an older release of Actiview (namely, version 5.34), when the GSR was being displayed in Ohms, it seemed to be working properly, and could also be scaled.

Is it possible that the auto detection in the new versions is causing this?

Thanks in advance,
David

ActiView 5.35 and higher automatically configures itself according to the version of the GSR circuit. The display in nanoSiemens indicates that your particular AD-box has the new 16 Hz version of the GSR circuit, and not the older 512 Hz version (which would show a display in Ohm). Therefore, you should use ActiView 5.35 or higher with your system (ActiView 5.34 and lower only support the 512 Hz version, later ActiView versions support both GSR versions). Using the older versions 5.34 or lower with the new 16 Hz GSR circuit only generates meaningless data (random noise).

If there is a (GSR flat line) problem with your particular AD-box, it is best to email me or your local representative directly for further advise.
