ActiView does not work after Windows 10 update

We noticed that on computers with Windows 10 version 1703, ActiView may stop working after the monthly Windows update (second Tuesday of the month). Symptoms: ActiView seems to freeze after pressing START, after a minute or so, the "No Incoming Data" popup appears. The solution is:

- Close ActiView
- unplug USB receiver
- plug in USB receiver (computer plays a "plong" sound)
- Open ActiView and check that system is running (no need to connect electrodes to the AD-box).

A warm or cold reboot did not solve the issue, so far it seems that unplug/replug the USB-receiver is the only working solution. The USB receiver should then work normally (can be left plugged in) until the next Windows upgrade one month later.

This issue is not restricted to a particular Windows update: it happens every month again.
The issue is not restricted to the BioSemi USB-receiver: some other USB devices also needed to be unplugged/replugged before they worked again.

Best regards, Coen (BioSemi)

If the BioSemi USB Receiver is not listed in the Device manager, then it might be that it is detected as an unknown device.
If you unplug the USB Receiver and plug it in again, then you can see in the Device manager what device is added.

I assume that your Receiver was working correctly on this W10 PC and that your Receiver has firmware version 4.0

PS: I have also forced my PC to update to W10 version 21H2 (the latest W10 update)
After this update, the BioSemi USB Receiver was detected normally (RECEIVER03) and ActiView was able to run as normal.
