Ground electrode woes

Post by mkmidd »

We have regularly struggled with getting our ground electrodes in range for SC recording. 50% of the time we have to reapply them in order to get the CM in range. We have tried multiple approaches (no prep, prep with water, prep with alcohol, and scrubbing) but we just don't have much luck. For a small percentage of subjects (10%?) we can't even get a good reading and we have to send them away with no recording. Recently, we bought a second set of ground electrodes but we are now having the same problems with these. Can you advise about skin prep? Can you advise about cleaning? Should we routinely soak them in salt water even if they are new? Thoughts appreciated.
