use of shocks with BioSemi

Post by jfanning »

Hello, I am interested in running a study in which I administer occassional shocks (range 10-100V, 100Hz, 50-250 ms duration) to subjects' fingertips while recording EEG. I will not be analyzing the EEG data surrounding the shocks. I would like to make sure that this will be safe for both the subject and the equipment, which is the 128-channel setup. The shocks will be administered through two electrodes, one on the first finger and one on the second finger, using Biopac equipment which will have its own ground. According to Biopac their stimulation equipment is safe for use with EEG; however, I would like to verify that this is true even with the active electrodes.

Thank you,

Jennifer
